A Life Shaped By Art
Raised in Pelham, New York, Yolanda Bergman grew up in a home filled with creativity. Her mother was an artist, and her father, a well-known writer and television producer, encouraged an artistic environment where every craft imaginable was explored. Their garage served as an art studio, where her mother painted and created ceramics, while her father practiced photography in the basement. This artistic atmosphere shaped Yolanda and her three siblings, instilling a lifelong passion for creative expression.
Education & Artistic Journey
Yolanda studied at Paier College of Art in New Haven, Connecticut, where she majored in Illustration. However, it was the intricate and expressive nature of mosaic art that ultimately captured her talent and passion. She has since traveled extensively across the United States and abroad, studying with master mosaic artists to refine her craft.
In 2025, Yolanda was accepted into Ojai Studio Artists (OSA), an esteemed collective of professional artists in the Ojai Valley dedicated to fostering artistic excellence and community engagement. As a member, she joins a network of highly regarded creatives who open their studios to the public and contribute to Ojai’s thriving arts scene.
Today, Yolanda creates stained glass and smalti mosaics in a painterly style, bringing movement and emotion to her pieces through intricate color variations. Her work has been described as brimming with visual excitement, reminiscent of the expressive brushwork seen in John Singer Sargent’s portraits.
Recognition & Press
Yolanda’s work has been featured on various platforms, including Joe Moorman’s Mosaic Art Blog, where her dynamic approach to color and texture was praised for its ability to bring mosaics to life with the depth and complexity of a painting.
"Mosaic is just as much a subtle art form as oil painting. Yolanda Bergman creates stained glass and smalti mosaics in a painterly style that is brimming with visual excitement."
— Joe Moorman, Mosaic Arts Supply
Beyond Art: A Legacy of Community & Leadership
Before dedicating herself fully to art, Yolanda spent over 25 years as a leading nutritionist, author, television personality, and health-focused entrepreneur in Los Angeles. She was a recognized voice in the wellness industry, sharing her expertise through media appearances and publications.
In addition to her artistic and professional achievements, Yolanda served on the Mandeville Canyon Association Board for 13 years, holding the role of Vice President and Lead Chair for Landscape Beautification and Park Creation. She successfully raised funds to establish three public parks in Mandeville and was honored with a dedicated bench in Chalon Park for her contributions to the community.
